The Rules
1. Site Conduct and Behaviour
a) Do not spam. Here we define spam as random rubbish or images/text that advertise commercial products.
b) Pornography is prohibited in either text or graphic forms.
c) You must use Standard English. Text speak and other languages are not allowed.
d) Bashing of members is not allowed. Be nice to fellow members, prejudice and off site rivalries are not welcome here.
e)We welcome all RP lengths.Whether you are using Witherwings as a playground for your next novel or a casual time-killer, you are welcome here. However, we ask that all posts be a minimum of fifty words.
f)Do not plagiarize. It's bad sportsmanship. Don't copy material from other websites and pass it off as your own. Likewise don't try and copy other people's material within Witherwings such as characters or posts.
2. Registration and Sorting
a)All accounts MUST have a first and last name. For example if you were making a character called "John Doe", your account would be created as "John Doe."
b)No canon characters! Witherwings likes original characters. Do not try and imitate canon characters with a different name; you will be asked to alter your character in this event. Direct relations of canon characters (such as parents, siblings, children, grandparents, great-grandparents, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and first cousins) are also forbidden. If a site plot requires any canon, or their relatives we will open up special applications.
c) No canon professors! All professor characters must be original.
d) Characters can be of any ethnicity, sexuality or gender. Please remember, it is unlikely foreign characters would attend Hogwarts.
e) Develop characters before creating new ones! The moderators and administrators reserve the right to pend applications for new characters when a player has not sufficiently role-played previous ones.
f) Please register your characters on the Role Call.
3.Playing the Game
a)Do not power play. This means acting like the next Chuck Norris. Play your characters realistically with all the flaws of a normal human being.
b) Do not God-mod. This means playing God - dictating the actions or thoughts of another character.
c) No sex scenes. Don't do it. If it's necessary, just refer to it having happened but don't role-play it here.
d) Teacher characters must post a lesson each month.
e) Students must attend in character punishments. If a teacher sets a detention, students have to go or members will be warned.
f) Power is relative! Generally, Professors, Death Eaters and Adult characters have the power of five seventh-year students. The Headmaster has the power of twenty students or ten fully trained adult wizards. Depending on character, age and experience may also affect character power.
g) God is the most powerful character. God is a non-playable character who may intervene in your topics and role-plays.God cannot be beaten, seen or heard unless God chooses to be. God is an indestructible power. God has the final say In Character.
h) You must apply for abilities! You must apply for abilities for your character in the designated topic. If an ability affects another character you MUST ask permission Out Of Character if you are allowed to use it on that member.
i) Do not powergame! Powergaming is working or exploiting the game system or its rules to make oneself or one's characters more powerful than the spirit of the game allows. Powergaming includes (but is not limited to) changing a character name to create a new character while maintaining the old character's post counts; creating dozens of characters so that you play all characters in a particular group or agency; entire re-writes of character applications to make them more powerful (as opposed to minor revisions, such as tweaking names and such). Powergaming is a form of cheating and is not allowed.
4. Other Stuff
a)Watch your signatures Massive signature images are unnecessary and just clutter the place up. We trust members to keep sigs at a moderate size.
b)Catch-all We have provided the basic rules in this post, however there are certain things which common sense tells us not to do. Just because things like racism aren't specifically mentioned, it's obvious that it is NOT tolerated here. Annoying members, irksome posts and an attempt to bypass the basic rules will result in disciplinary action.
