1998
  • Harry Potter destroys Voldemort's remaining Horcrux. Voldemort is Vanquished and his followers are taken to Azkaban.
  • Hans McArther succeeds Minerva McGonnagal as Headmaster of Hogwarts.
  • The Dementors, still loyal to Voldemort overrun Azkaban, kill all the Ministry guard there, and allow all remaining Death Eaters to escape. The Death Eaters go underground led by Rabastan Lestrange.
  • Valkyrie Wizard Prison is opened. Previous human rights acts have been repealed. The Ministry uses this place as a torture and testing ground for new branches of magic.

1999
  • Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger get jobs in the Ministry of Magic.
  • A year of peace, the trio triumph in their work.
  • Some Death Eaters, such as Rabastan Lestrange manage to clear their names and infiltrate the Ministry of Magic.
  • There are reports of mass murders across Europe.

January 2000
  • Harry Potter is assassinated in The Burrow with an Avada Kedavra curse. His Holly and Phoenix Feather wand was taken. The Weasley's were unharmed.
  • Minister for Magic, Kinglsey Shacklebolt, gives himself the powers of a Dictator and gives the Aurors emergency powers to use unforgivables, and arrest without charge. Kingsley however has lost all power in the Ministry and the auror department, and the department of mysteries seem to be collectively running the country.
  • The Muggle Minister is placed under the Imperious Curse and muggle politics are controlled by the Ministry.
  • Ron Weasley is tortured and killed by the Ministry of Magic in an effort to "unlock the secrets that the trio have kept from the world." The Ministry learns of the Deathly Hallows.
  • Kingsley resigns as Minister, he is unable to control it and dies. Marvin Ramsay becomes Minister.


February 2000
  • The Ministry break into Dumbledore's tomb and take the Elder Wand. They are, however unable to use it.
  • It is discovered that the murderer of Harry Potter is the master of the Elder Wand.
  • Marvin Ramsay stores the wand inside Hogwart's in a secret location, believing it is the safest place to keep it from its master.
  • Marvin Ramsay dies of "natural causes" a day later. Now no one knows the location of the wand.
  • Simon Beckett becomes Minister for Magic.
  • Simon Beckett places the Muggle Prime Minister, Lord Stedley, under the Imperius Curse.


May 2000
  • The Moscow University of Advanced Magic starts a dueling tournament for Hogwart's students.
  • Coldstone Harshing succeeds Hans McArther as Headmaster of Hogwarts.

June 2000
  • Simon Beckett tests a new dose of the Demagus Potion on Dolores Umbridge.
  • Hans Mcarther is found injured in an alleyway. Matthew Selwyn takes him to Saint Mungo's. However a curse has been implanted in him.
  • The curse takes action and causes an explosion at Saint Mungo's killing Hans and hundreds of others. Matthew Selwyn attempts to contain the damage and is critically injured. He receives the Order of Merlin.
  • St. Mungo's patients are evacuated, some to Hogwarts.
  • Work begins on reconstruction of St. Mungo's.
  • Coldstone Harshing begins to form the Neo-Death Eaters and recruits for the NDE Youth.

July 2000
  • A half-insane wizard claims to have murdered Harry Potter and is questioned by Ministry officials. Simon Beckett defeats him in a makeshift duel.
  • Simon Beckett tests the Demagus Potion on Matthew Selwyn.
  • Simon Beckett orders research on the Decclumens Potion.
  • Alexander Whitney becomes Deputy Minister of Mysteries.

September 2000
  • Sept. 1:
    • The NDE storms the Hogwarts Express, taking three hostages and planting a Fiendfyre bomb inside a first-year student. Several students fight. Matthew Selwyn rids the train of the bomb and contains the explosion in a Greater Shield Charm.
    • Catherine London is arrested for an attempted assassination of the Minister.
    • Simon Beckett arrests Coldstone Harshing, who later escapes.
    • Wesley Patterson is appointed Acting Headmaster.
    • Simon Beckett takes the Elder Wand from Hogwarts.
    • The NDE demands that Beckett turn himself over in three days time, or one of the hostages will be executed at sunset on the third day.
    • A Fiendfyre bomb explodes at the Muggle Parliament, killing the Muggle Prime Minister, Lord Stedley.
  • Sept. 2:
    • A student is murdered at Hogwarts.
    • The Order of the Phoenix is revived.
  • Sept. 3:
    • Coldstone Harshing tortures and murders one of the hostages, Sebastian Toussaint, just before dawn.
    • At dawn, the Order of the Phoenix storms Azkaban, rescuing the remaining two hostages. Matthew Selwyn and Coldstone Harshing duel to a draw; Harshing flees.
  • Sept. 4: Matthew Selwyn appointed Temporary Headmaster.
  • Sept. 5: Simon Beckett discovers he has the Elder Wand and the necklace of Faustus.
  • Sept. 9: A Hogwarts student is raped and beaten in Hogsmeade.
  • Rhett London, a Neo-Death Eater, is arrested.

October, 2000
  • Levin Michelmas becomes Headmaster of Hogwarts.
  • Seifer Black becomes Chief Auror.
  • Demetri Valder is arrested and imprisoned for the murder of Lita Greenwich and the rape of Madison Sparks.
  • A Neo-Death Eater attacks the Ministry and is captured.
  • The Demagus Potion is perfected.
  • The Decclumens Potion is tested.

November, 2000
  • The Decclumens Potion is perfected.
  • Maxim Bormann becomes Chief of Magical Law Enforcement.
  • The Order of the Phoenix seeks an antidote for the Fiendfyre potion.

December, 2000
  • December 21: The wedding of Matthew Selwyn and Frith Andraste.
    • Coldstone Harshing attacks the wedding using a Fiendfyre potion. The student-carrier, Trixxie Rhodes, is killed. Eleanor Talbot is paralyzed in the attack.
    • Sabine London attacks Matthew Selwyn, who survives.
    • Sabine London, Fatorian Gale, and the disguised Harshing are arrested and taken to Valkyrie Prison.
  • December 22
    • Simon Beckett administers both the Demagus and the Declumens potion to Coldstone Harshing.
    • Beckett recruits Fatorian Gale to impersonate Harshing in order to draw out the remnants of the Neo-Death Eaters.
    • Beckett protects the fact of Harshing's capture and subsequent neutralization by the Fidelius Charm.
    • The Hogwarts Express is canceled, and students return home for the holidays via Floo Powder.
    • Sabine London is released from Valkyrie to house arrest on probation.

January, 2001
  • The Ministry replicates the Fiendfyre potion.
  • The Ministry begins to develop an antidote for the Fiendfyre potion.
  • The new school term begins. Students return to Hogwarts via Floo.
  • The Order of the Phoenix begins plans to protect Sabine London's child and Matt and Frith Selwyn's children.

February, 2001
  • In disguise as Coldstone Harshing, Fatorian Gale attacks Diagon Alley. Three people are killed.
  • Simon Beckett passes the Magical Freedom Act.

March, 2001
  • Frith Selwyn goes into hiding.

April, 2001
  • Hogwarts' Prom: Professor Eleanor Talbot is poisoned with Fiendfyre by Simon Beckett in disguise as Harshing. The Order's untested antidote saves her life.

May, 2001
  • The Quidditch Finals: The Ministry attempts to seize Matthew Selwyn from Hogwarts. A fight ensues. The Minister's granddaughter is kidnapped. An Auror and Enforcer are killed; many people are injured.
  • Hogwarts is under siege by the Ministry for forty-eight hours.

June, 2001
  • June 21: The Choosing.
    • The Hogwarts Choosing begins just after midnight and results in Matthew Selwyn's appointment as Minister.
    • The Ministry Choosing begins at dawn and appoints Simon Beckett as Minister.

August, 2001
  • August 4: Seifer Black duels and kills the Grindelwald-era war criminal, Istvan Takacs.
  • August 5: A number of prisoners, including Coldstone Harshing and Madeline Jacksmith, break out of Valkyrie Prison, severely damaging the complex. Hermione Granger escapes.

September, 2001
  • September 1: Term begins. Students return to Hogwarts via Floo. HAMM and the DA resume meetings.
  • September 16: A Hark fails to assassinate Matthew Selwyn. A student is maimed in the attempt.
  • September 25: The Groomers meet with the Order of the Phoenix.

October, 2001
  • October 1: Simon Beckett pardons Madeline Jacksmith.
  • October 20: Two students torture a third student; the two offenders are expelled.
  • October 25: Lazarus Jacksmith blows up the Three Broomsticks; threatens more death and destruction if Simon Beckett does not resign.
  • October 27: Hogwarts' Fall Formal.
  • October 31: NDEY release a fear-producing gas during the Hogwarts Halloween Feast.

November, 2001
  • November 2: David Jacksmith is given command of a task force charged with stopping Lazarus Jacksmith. The task force is given unprecedented powers.
  • November 20: Madeline Jacksmith detonates a Fiendfyre bomb within the Savoy Hotel in London.
  • November 29: Madeline Jacksmith continues her attacks, hitting the Jorvik Museum in York.

December, 2001
  • Early December: Lazarus Jacksmith creates his own version of the Elder Wand using Dragon blood.
  • December 8: Simon Beckett, with the help of Matthew Selwyn and other Hogwarts Professors, successfully thwarts Madeline Jacksmith's third Fiendfyre attack at the British Museum.
  • December 31: St. Mungo's Annual New Year's Eve Charity Benefit.

January, 2002
  • January 1: Simon Beckett duels Lazarus Jacksmith at Stonehenge. Both survive.
  • January 2: Simon Beckett places Rachel Ballantyne-Jacksmith in protective custody and recruits Madeline Jacksmith.
  • January 4: Madeline Jacksmith acquires Jacksmith Potions in a hostile take-over. John and David Jacksmith are removed from the company. The Research and Development director, Rick Talbot, is placed on administrative leave and moves several secret projects (including the Remagus and Recclumens potions) off site without anyone's knowledge.

February, 2002
  • Lazarus Jacksmith murders his father-in-law, Wizengamot judge Ulysses Hawkwood.
  • February 14: Lazarus Jacksmith murders a Muggle family in Little Whinging as part of an apparent attempt on Professor Eleanor Talbot's life. The attempt fails.
  • February 18: The Department of Mysteries successfully tests and finalizes the Remagus potion (the antidote to the Demagus).
  • February 28: Suspected NDE member Alfie Hawksmoor escapes house arrest and begins to "remove" blood traitors from his family tree.

March, 2002
  • March 1: Simon Beckett bans the use of the Fidelius charm, making the incantation Taboo. Beckett mandates registration of all secrets guarded by the Fidelius charm prior to the ban, as well as registration of all persons possessing special Magical abilities, threatening incarceration to those who do not comply.
  • March 30: Hogwarts' Head Boy, Kyle Frost, sneaks into the Ministry of Magic disguised as the Childe Roland; while breaking into John Jacksmith's office, he is apprehended by Jacksmith and other Ministry officials, including Simon Beckett.

April, 2002
  • April 6: The wedding of Edward Lavishstock and Penelope Castletyne. Shots are fired on the guests leaving the reception, wounding Simon Beckett and killing his wife Christine.
  • April 10: Nicola Hamilton is kidnapped by Alfie Hawksmoor.
  • April 18: Alfie Hawksmoor, Vladimer Drax, and Antonin Dolohov, among others, meet to discuss the future of the fractured NDE and the reformation of the original Death Eaters.
  • April 22: David Jacksmith is critically injured in an explosion at Jacksmith Potions after John Jacksmith uses the facility to lure Lazarus Jacksmith out of hiding.
  • April 27: Nicola Hamilton is recovered by the Order after the Death Eaters organize an ambush on Ministry forces at Bolton Abbey.

May, 2002

  • May 17: Hogwarts Prom.
  • May 23:
    • Lazarus Jacksmith attacks a plane at Heathrow Airport. The Muggle passengers and crew die. Matthew Selwyn and Lance Marlowe are injured. Lazarus Jacksmith escapes. The Obliviation Squad and the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes secure the scene and modify memories to maintain the Statute of Secrecy.
    • The surviving Weasleys are rescued by several female members of the Order and Sabine London.
  • May 30: The Quidditch House Cup.

June, 2002
  • June 25: Hogwarts term ends. Summer Holidays begin.
  • June 30: Hawksmoor Garden Party

July, 2002
  • July 15: Quidditch World Cup begins in Australia.
  • July 16: Group matches begin in the Quidditch World Cup.


August, 2002
  • August 1: Round of 16 begins in the Quidditch World Cup.
  • August 15: Quidditch World Cup finals: U.S.A vs. Australia. Madeline Drax and Aaron Jacksmith are kidnapped by Lazarus Jacksmith.
  • August 31: Madeline Drax and Aaron Jacksmith are found dead.
